THE PHILOSOPHY
OKANAGAN SHOW JUMPING STABLES and former the Bahle family is selecting and
building up it's breeding stock since decades following the strict rule, that
only the very best horses are worth to be in breeding. So no compromises are
to be made by selecting breeding material under the goal of this dedication
of breeding for high performance. The following factors are of essential importance
for the genetic evaluation:
1.The female line has a surplus value:
There is extensive scientific proof, that genetically the influence of the dam
line is higher than the influence of the stallion! So the dam- granddam- grandgranddam-(
a. s. o.) line is usually carrying the most important genetic power. When selecting
the right stallion for a mare, the same rule has to be followed: he has to be
out of the best and most proven mare families, too.
2. The performance record of the whole family (and again especially of
the damlines in it) is most important in genetic view:
Top performance on the base of a family tradition promises genetic security.
Top performance as an exemption in only one horse of the whole family does not
say really much about its breeding value. So only proven families (and not proven
single horses) supply the necessary genetically high breeding value. So we select
for breeding only those mares, which show in their whole family and over more
than one generation high performance records as a tradition.
